Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Location: Bordon, Hampshire (Hollywater area)
Hours: Monday to Friday, during school hours (term time only)
A caring and inclusive school in the Hollywater area of Bordon is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join its dedicated team and support pupils with a range of additional needs.
The school supports children with special educational needs, including communication and interaction needs, autism, sensory processing differences, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where every child is supported to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
About the Role
The Learning Support Assistant will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to help pupils access learning and feel safe, understood, and valued. Support may be provided one-to-one or in small groups, depending on pupils’ needs, and may include assistance with communication, emotional regulation, routines, and classroom activities.
The school welcomes applications from candidates with experience gained in education, care, health, youth work, childcare, or support roles, as well as from those with transferable skills and a strong interest in supporting children with additional needs. Full training and ongoing support are provided.
Key Responsibilities

Support pupils with a range of special educational needs within the classroom and around the school

Assist with learning activities, adapting tasks to meet individual needs

Support children with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation

Help pupils follow routines and manage transitions throughout the school day

Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and therapists
-
Record observations and contribute to pupil progress and support plans

Maintain a calm, patient, and positive approach at all times

Experience with autism, SEN, or behavioural support is desirable but not essential. The school values empathy, commitment, and a willingness to develop professionally.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
