York school seeking individuals that are willing to work as a Teaching Assistants in within a York School either as a behaviour buddy one to one with a child or a General Teaching Assistant within this specialist setting. This specialist York provision caters for children that are excluded from mainstream school for a short period of time or indefinitely. If this setting would suit you down the ground and you have the mentality to work with challenging pupils. experience of EBD/BESD/SEMH or mental health would be a massive advantage. The ideal candidate will be able to remain calm in difficult situations and man manage a student to engage them in various activities. Must have the Team Teach qualification or be willing to be trained in order to take the role. (Training can be provided at low cost)
The setting is diverse in comparison to mainstream provision in that staff roles and the curriculum is adapted where possible to cater for the needs of the young people; therefore, it is crucial that core expectations are met to maintain a quality structure. The school aims to:
• Make its students feel valued so that they in turn can value themselves and others.
• Provide excellent achievement opportunities for its young people and provide them with skills for the future.
• Teach young people how to develop positive behaviours and constructive attitudes.
