Trainee Teaching Assistant

Our client school in Penarth are looking for a Trainee Teaching Assistant to join the team working in a primary class supporting learners with Autism.

Full Time Monday to Friday (32.5 hrs)

£13.29 per hour

Our school caters to learners ages 3-19 from around the Vale of Glamorgan with additional learning needs including Severe Learning Difficulties, Autism, Physical Disabilities and Sensory Impairments Etc. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Teaching Assistant to work closely with a small group of students supporting them throughout the school day.

You will mainly be working in a primary class however may also be expected to cover in various classes across the school, we are therefore looking for a Trainee Teaching Assistant that is confident to work with various needs and age ranges. Contracts are available for those performing well!

Role:

  • Greet the learners when they arrive and help settle learners into class ready to start the day
  • Support the learners through tasks and activities set up by the class teacher, help with understanding and maintaining focus.
  • Support the team with creating and distributing learning materials.
  • Support with managing learners behaviour and reducing challenging behaviour
  • Provide nurturing support for learners
  • Support with personal care if needed.
  • Help with pupil assessment and monitoring learner progress.

We are looking for a Trainee Teaching Assistant that will be confident in class and able to fit well into a close team environment. We require someone that has an understanding of additional needs and is able to build bonds with students effectively, but this does not have to be from an education setting.

Requirements to work in schools:

Enhanced Child and Adult DBS

Registration with the Education Workforce Council

2 employment references

Safeguarding Level 2 qualification – Teaching Personnel can provide this for FREE.

Through Teaching Personnel you will have access to lots of free and highly subsidised CPD course and the school will provide mentoring opportunities and guidance to the Trainee Teaching Assistant.
