Full-Time SEMH Teaching Assistant 
Start Date: September 2025

A specialist SEN school in Yeovil is seeking a dedicated full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This nurturing school supports primary-aged pupils (5–11 years old) with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have additional learning challenges.

 

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

  • Assisting with classroom activities and tailored interventions

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

  • Creating a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children with SEN/SEMH needs (desirable)

  • Calm, patient and resilient in managing challenging behaviour

  • Passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs

  • Confident communicator and team player

  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
