Job description

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs? A

welcoming and well-resourced specialist school in Yeovil is looking for a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September 2025.

This is a full-time role working across both primary and secondary phases, supporting students aged 4 to 16 with a range of complex needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

 

The Role:

  • Support individual students and small groups with SEMH and SEND

  • Foster emotional regulation, resilience, and engagement in learning

  • Assist in delivering tailored educational and therapeutic programmes

  • Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

  • Promote a positive, inclusive and respectful school culture

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN/SEMH (preferred but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
