The school is a specialist alternative provision setting for pupils who are unable to access mainstream education. This particular site is our dedicated base for Year 11 students, supporting young people who have been permanently excluded, are at risk of exclusion, or require additional care due to medical or social-emotional needs.

We are a trauma-informed, Thrive-accredited school with a strong pastoral ethos. Our mission is to give every young person the structure, encouragement and opportunity they need to re-engage with learning and move confidently into post-16 education or training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class and 1:1 support to pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with young people through consistency and empathy

  • Help manage behaviour through positive, trauma-informed approaches

  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies to promote pupil wellbeing

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Compassionate, patient and emotionally resilient

  • Skilled at building rapport with young people facing barriers to learning

  • Flexible and able to adapt to varied situations throughout the school day

  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills

  • Committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and equality

Experience in alternative provision, SEMH settings, youth work or SEND support is essential.

What We Offer

  • Longer working hours which means a higher rate of pay. 08:30 – 16:30, Monday to Friday

  • Small class sizes and supportive adult-pupil ratios

  • A close-knit, welcoming and values-led team

  • Regular CPD

  • The chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable young people

  • A strong focus on staff wellbeing and professional support
