Job description

Secondary School looking to appoint a KS3/KS4 Science teacher for an immediate start date and continuing for the next academic year - Harrow (£120 - 150 a day)

Harrow based school seeking Science specialist teacher to lead secondary science lessons on a full-time basis with permanent contract prospects

Interviews to begin from Wednesday 15th May 2018 and will be held by school's Assistant Headteacher

Teachers and Newly Qualified teachers must have relevant teaching qualifications with experience leading, planning and marking Science lessons.

About the role

A secondary school based in Pinner for pupils with difficulty learning in mainstream schools across West London are looking to appoint a confident and experienced Science Teacher on a temporary to permanent contract basis. The role is to start immediately on a full-time basis and will require commitment due to the pupils learning needs.

This specific role is a full-time 5 days a week Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm teaching Science lessons in Biology, Physics or Chemistry for Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 pupils.

Teachers will require experience teaching Science either in secondary or Post-16 education and will need UK recognised teaching qualifications such as QTS, NQT or PGCE.

Experience teaching pupils with challenging behaviour, social difficulties or ADHD is ideal but not necessary as behaviour policies are implemented across the school.

About the School

An education centre run by the Harrow Local Authority for pupils at risk of exclusion and moderate learning difficulties seek to hire Science teachers with mainstream secondary school, Pupil referral unit or alternative education centre experience. They are looking for a confident Science Teacher able to teach across year 7 and year 11 in Biology, Physics or Chemistry.

The centre consists of a Pupil Referral Unit, Hospital Education class, Home Tuition and outreach support, providing education for pupils from 5-16 years. Pupil's complete qualifications in GCSEs (AQA and Edexcel), Functional Skills and ASDAN short Courses - knowledge of the science curriculum according to these job boards would be beneficial.

Potential teachers must be confident planning and leading classes, be a great communicator and have an energetic, resilient personality.

Ofsted have rated the school as "Good" with praise given for the schools ability to improve outcomes and work collaboratively with other agencies to promote overall development.

"Pupils' good achievement is reflected in the high proportion who are successfully reintegrated into mainstream schools."

Location

The school is accessible by local buses H14, H12 and 182 and the following stations:

Stanmore Station (Jubilee Line), Hatch End Station (Overground), Kenton Station (Bakerloo Line) and South Harrow Station (Piccadilly Line)

Requirements

UK recognised teaching qualifications such as PGCE, QTS, NQT qualifications

Experience teaching Science across KS3 - KS4 leading the curriculum

Teachers will be required to plan, deliver lessons for secondary pupils and prepare classes for GCSE, Functional Skills and ASDAN exams

Availability required on full-time basis Monday to Friday 8:30 - 4:30pm
