Job description

Secondary Supply Teachers & Cover Supervisors | Brighton & Surrounding Areas

Looking to keep classroom work in your week while having more say over your availability?

I’m expanding my network of Secondary Supply Teachers and Cover Supervisors across Brighton and the surrounding areas.

You might want several days each week, occasional bookings or work alongside other commitments. We can discuss how supply could fit around you throughout the 2026/27 academic year.

Supply Teachers

I’m happy to hear from ECTs, experienced secondary teachers and teachers returning after a break, across subject areas.

You’ll generally need QTS or an appropriate equivalent.

Let me know whether you’re interested in general classroom cover, teaching within your specialism or being considered for longer-term work as requirements arise.

Cover Supervisors

You don’t need QTS.

Cover Supervisors generally oversee lessons using work prepared by the school, explain tasks, maintain classroom expectations and support pupils to stay engaged.

Relevant backgrounds can include sports coaching, youth work, tutoring, mentoring and other experience leading groups of young people. Graduates considering teaching are also welcome to get in touch.

How does supply work?

Some bookings are arranged in advance. Others come through that morning, with schools contacting me from around 6:30am, occasionally earlier.

If you prefer pre-booked work, let me know. We’ll discuss your availability and travel options, and where possible build repeat bookings in schools you enjoy.

Day-to-day supply fluctuates and work isn’t guaranteed. Driving can open up more schools, but it isn’t essential.

The practical details

You’ll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service. If you don’t currently hold one, you’ll need to apply through us and join the Update Service. I’ll support you through the process, with the associated cost covered by the applicant.

We’ll require your full employment and education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible, prioritising recent and relevant employment.

Interested?

Apply and tell me about your experience and the days you’d like to work.

Let’s see how secondary supply around Brighton could suit you.
