Job description

Health & Social Care / Childcare Teacher | Brighton | 4 Days Per Week

A great short-term opportunity for a Health & Social Care or Childcare specialist looking to teach post-16 without committing to a full five-day week.

I'm currently recruiting for a Health & Social Care / Childcare Teacher to join a well-established sixth-form college in Brighton from 2 November until the Christmas break.

The timetable runs across Monday to Thursday, with Friday free, teaching post-16 learners across Level 2 and Level 3 courses.

It's a focused, subject-specific placement that could suit an experienced Health & Social Care teacher, somebody from a Childcare or Early Years teaching background, or an educator with strong relevant subject knowledge and experience working with post-16 learners.

The Role

The timetable includes:

  • Level 3 Health & Social Care
  • Level 2 Health, Social Care & Childcare
  • Level 2 Caring for Children and Young People
  • Year 1 and Year 2 Level 3 groups
  • Teaching across Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • Friday free

The placement begins on 2 November 2026 and is currently expected to run until the Christmas break.

You'll be working within an established sixth-form environment, teaching learners who have chosen vocational pathways within Health, Social Care and Childcare.

Who Could This Suit?

This is quite a specialist timetable, so I'm keen to hear from people with strong subject knowledge rather than limiting the search to one very specific career route.

You might be:

  • An experienced Health & Social Care Teacher
  • A Childcare / Early Years Teacher or Lecturer
  • A Further Education Lecturer
  • A teacher experienced in delivering Level 2 or Level 3 vocational qualifications
  • Someone with a strong professional background in Health, Social Care or Childcare alongside relevant teaching experience

Experience working with post-16 learners would be particularly useful.

The college is looking for somebody who can step into the timetable confidently, get to know the groups quickly and provide continuity in their learning through to Christmas.

Why Consider It?

There are some genuinely attractive practicalities to this one.

You'll have a four-day teaching week with Friday free, a clearly defined initial placement through to Christmas, and the opportunity to focus on your subject area within a dedicated sixth-form environment.

It could work particularly well if you're between permanent positions, currently working part-time, returning to teaching or simply looking for a focused placement for the remainder of the autumn term.

Interested?

Because this is a fairly niche requirement, I wouldn't rule yourself out simply because your current job title doesn't exactly match “Health & Social Care Teacher”.

If your background sits within Health & Social Care, Childcare, Early Years or vocational post-16 teaching, I'd be interested in hearing about your experience.

Apply with your CV and I'll get in touch to talk through the college, timetable and opportunity in more detail.
