Secondary Supply Teachers & Cover Supervisors
Job description
Secondary Supply Teachers & Cover Supervisors | Brighton & Surrounding Areas
A few days each week, occasional classroom work or a change from a permanent timetable — how would supply fit around you?
I’m expanding my network of Secondary Supply Teachers and Cover Supervisors across Brighton and the surrounding areas for the 2026/27 academic year.
I support schools with planned and short-notice cover, alongside longer-term assignments.
You tell me your availability, travel preferences and the type of work you’re interested in, and I’ll look for suitable bookings.
Supply Teachers
I’m looking for qualified secondary teachers across a range of subjects, including ECTs, experienced teachers and those returning to the classroom.
You’ll generally need QTS or an appropriate equivalent.
Opportunities can include general daily cover, subject-specific teaching and longer-term placements. Supply can offer variety, the chance to get to know different schools and more control over the days you make yourself available.
Cover Supervisors
You don’t need QTS to work as a Cover Supervisor.
You’ll generally lead lessons using work prepared by the school, keep pupils engaged and maintain a productive classroom environment during teacher absence.
I’m happy to hear from experienced Cover Supervisors, as well as graduates, sports coaches, youth workers, tutors and mentors with relevant experience working with groups of young people.
If you’re considering teaching, it can be a useful way to build classroom experience before taking the next step.
How bookings work
Some cover is booked well in advance. Other opportunities come through that morning.
Schools can contact me from around 6:30am, occasionally earlier, so being open to same-day bookings may mean an early call or message. If you prefer pre-booked work, let me know.
As you get to know schools, we can also look to build repeat bookings in the settings you enjoy, where possible.
Day-to-day work fluctuates and isn’t guaranteed. If you need a more consistent working pattern, we can discuss longer-term opportunities too.
Driving is helpful, but it isn’t essential.
The practical details
You’ll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service. If you don’t currently hold one, you’ll need to apply through us and join the Update Service. I’ll support you through the process, with the associated cost covered by the applicant.
We’ll also require your full employment and education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible, prioritising recent and relevant employment.
Interested?
Apply and tell me about your experience and availability.
Whether you’re familiar with supply or exploring it for the first time, let’s have a conversation about working across Brighton’s secondary schools.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
