Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently looking for a Science Teacher to work in a specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in Eastleigh. The provision provides a complete education and care service for young learners between 11 - 18 years of age that are emotionally vulnerable. All attending pupils are either at risk of exclusion or have permanently been excluded from mainstream schooling; this is as a result of severe or complex behavioural, emotional, social or mental health difficulties.

The role and responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver and mark sessions for boys and girls with complex SEMH needs.
  • Engage and motivate pupils
  • Inspire trust and confidence in pupils, colleagues, parents and other professionals
  • Plan and lead children in off-site enrichment activities
  • Ensure you uphold all safeguarding procedures, including engaging in annual safeguarding training, including induction training

The candidate:

  • Minimum of 2 years Science teaching experience
  • Experience of working with children with SEN, SEMH or ASC
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • An excellent knowledge of the specialist curriculum area and how it may be effectively taught.
  • QTS
  • Full comprehensive knowledge of the Science curriculum
