School Science Technician- Tameside

Teaching Personnel are urgently seeking a Science Technician to work at our partner school located in Tameside. This full time position, starting from October, represents an exciting opportunity for a Science Technician to work for the full academic year. Further, the incoming Science Technician will join a large Science department and have the opportunity to work in a school with outstanding Science laboratories due to a recent investment:

Highlights-

  • Pay of up to £350 per week.
  • Position to start from October until July 2019.
  • The possibility of being offered a contract by the school after the initial supply period.
  • School located with easy access to the nearby areas and excellent public transport links.

Specific duties-

  • Performing laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations.
  • Carrying out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses.
  • Preparing specimens and samples.
  • Constructing, maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment, for example centrifuges, titrators, pipetting machines and pH meters;
  • Ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced;
  • Recording and sometimes interpreting results to present to senior colleagues;
  • Using computers and performing mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs;
  • Keeping up to date with technical developments, especially those which can save time and improve reliability;
  • Conducting searches on identified topics relevant to the research;
  • Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
