Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently looking for Support Workers to work in the residential care homes of our SEN schools in the Portsmouth area.

These positions are varied in supporting and mentoring children who can challenge - staff are involved in many activities which may include camping, football, rugby, ice skating, gym, community groups and events, music and concerts and charity events!

Duties can include:

  • Supporting, mentoring and educating in day to day activities and for their emotional and social needs
  • Developing personal and practical skills to enhance independent living
  • Positive engagement to encourage pupils to achieve by helping them build confidence and self-esteem
  • Reporting and recording key aspects of care and developing your professional skills as part of on going development
  • Managing complex behaviour that can be challenging

Key Skills Required:

  • Ability to provide consistent and structured approach to the care and support you provide
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Keen to learn and complete CPD, when necessary
  • Have the flexibility and willingness to work shifts, including weekends
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence and be a car driver

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
