Exciting Opportunity for a Religious Education Teacher in Audenshaw!

Are you a passionate and dedicated Religious Education (RE) teacher seeking a new challenge? Teaching Personnel is thrilled to offer a full-time position for an RE Teacher at an Ofsted Good and diverse secondary school in Audenshaw. This role commences in September for the full academic year, with the potential for permanency based on performance. The salary for this role is in line with your PayScale.

Role Overview:

As an RE Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and engage students in the exploration of religious and moral issues, fostering their understanding of different faiths, beliefs, and ethical principles. You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality RE lessons, promoting critical thinking, empathy, and respect for diversity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and interactive RE lessons across key stages, covering a range of religious and philosophical topics, in accordance with the national curriculum and exam board specifications.

  • Faith Exploration: Facilitate students' exploration of different religious traditions, beliefs, and practices, encouraging them to reflect on their own beliefs and values and respect the perspectives of others.

  • Ethical Inquiry: Stimulate students' ethical inquiry and moral reasoning, fostering their ability to critically evaluate ethical dilemmas and make informed decisions based on ethical principles.

  • Promotion of Diversity: Promote understanding, tolerance, and respect for diversity within the school community, celebrating the richness of cultural, religious, and philosophical diversity.

  • Spiritual Development: Support students' spiritual development by providing opportunities for reflection, meditation, and contemplation, and encouraging them to explore questions of meaning, purpose, and identity.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Assess students' progress through formative and summative assessments, provide constructive feedback, and track their development over time, supporting their academic growth and achievement.

  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Organize and participate in extra-curricular activities related to RE, such as faith-based clubs, interfaith dialogues, and community outreach projects, enriching students' learning experiences beyond the classroom.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Religious Education or related field.

  • Passion for religious and moral education and a commitment to promoting understanding, tolerance, and respect for diversity.

  • Previous experience teaching RE at the secondary level, preferably within a diverse school environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities.

  • Strong subject knowledge and a willingness to continuously develop and enhance teaching practices.
