Gain invaluable experience on the front-line working 1:1 with children diagnosed with autism and learning difficulties as a special needs teaching assistant.
We are working closely with Special School in Uxbridge who are looking to appoint special needs experienced psychology graduates to support pupils within the school’s secondary and post-16 department. The role is full-time 5 days a week starting in September 2020 and will be for two school terms minimally to support pupils 1:1 and in small groups with catch up learning, social development and care.
The successful psychology graduate will work as a SEN teaching assistant supporting children and young adults with learning and development programmes. Psychology graduates will also assist with assessing, designing and planning these development programmes alongside therapists, senior staff and SEN specialists. You will support on arrival, during breaktime, lunchtime and in class with learning programmes and be responsible for pupil’s welfare and overall care.
Successful psychology graduates working in the school in Uxbridge will be required to support children with personal care (toileting), therapies, feeding and/or medication. With some pupils with additional developmental difficulties, speech and language needs and social, emotional needs having experience with these needs is highly beneficial.

If you have experience in any of the following send your CV today:
- Psychology graduate (UK recognised only)
- As an Early Years Practitioner, Nursery Assistant, Support Worker or Carer supporting special needs or EHCPs
- Autism spectrum condition, speech and language and/or emotional difficulties
- On placement working with special needs, in hospitals and/or with children
- Supporting with personal care, speech and language therapy and/or therapy
- Using Makaton, PECS, TEACCH and/or signalong
- With de-escalation training such as Team Teach or Positive Behaviour Support

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
