PRU Teaching Assistant

Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting a Support Assistant for a pupil referral unit in Gosport.

This unit provides support for pupils who are experiencing difficulty, including pupils who have been excluded.

Successful candidates will be required to work on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis to support secondary students who have been placed in the PRU due to difficulties in mainstream schooling.


The Role:

Hours: 8:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday

Salary: Will range between £9 - £12 per hour, dependant on candidates previous experience and qualifications.


The Candidate:

Ideal candidate will have an understanding or experience about SEN (Special educational needs) pupils. Also have a passion in mentoring behavioural issue pupils.

Due to the circumstances of the pupils candidates that are traditionally suited to this role have experience with any of the following:

  • Challenging behaviour within family
  • Sports coaches
  • Youth offending services
  • Psychology graduates

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
