Primary SEN Teacher (KS1)

In the school, the children range from 2-11 in age and have a mixture of needs, including SLD, PMLD and ASC. Some of the children may have difficulties with speech and language therefore knowledge of PECS or Makaton would be ideal.
Teachers would be supported in the classroom by teaching assistants who will help children with their learning and behaviour, as well as their social interaction. The teacher is expected to deliver the curriculum practically according to the children's needs.
The school believes in creating a positive and supportive education environment, whilst promoting learning partnerships and delivering a stimulating curriculum.
Candidates will ideally have worked in a school for specialist needs and have experience teaching primary aged children with challenging behaviours. Candidates will also need to be enthusiastic and practical to deliver this rewarding curriculum, whilst having an empathetic and caring nature to handle the daily challenges they may face. The ability to be adaptable and flexible is essential.
The ideal candidate should have:
Knowledge of the primary curriculum
Experience working in SEN
Experience teaching primary age children
Team-teach training/ Autism Awareness/ S+L /PECS
