Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
Teaching Personnel are excited to present a great opportunity for a Key Stage 1 Teacher with one of our partner primary schools in Swanley. The school is located just a five minute walk from Swanley Park and a 10-15 minute walk from Swanley Station (Thameslink, Southeastern). The school is part of one of the largest Multi-Academy Trusts in the South of England and is Ofsted rated 'Good' showing evidence of improving towards outstanding (Feb 2018).
The school has excellent resources with a modern building and lots of outdoor space which is fully utilised for student learning. The school has a scouting area for campfires, class allotments and a pond for outdoor science. The school works not just within its trust but also with 10 local primary schools to ensure standards are consistently high. This cross school collaboration allows for sharing of good practice and also provides opportunities for joint events such as sporting fixtures, curriculum days and community celebration.
The school is a fully inclusive school with excellent provision for SEND and staff that work continually hard to close the gap in levels of attainment for disadvantaged students. The school has an excellent well-being provision designed to help support students to be resilient and mentally healthy. The school aims to engage and support its students in the development in all areas, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
Staff have the confidence and support of the leadership to take risks and try new ideas to the benefit of pupils. An example of this is the introduction of outdoor lessons to improve the standard of boys' writing by helping them to imagine settings and situations. The school is involved in weekly scouting activities involving all students and staff which allows students to learn from experience. This ties firmly into the schools belief in the concept of 'learning by doing' education .
Pupils are proud of the school and say their lessons are fun and interesting. The behaviour in lessons is very good and pupils show great respect for their teachers. The broad and stimulating curriculum captures the interest of pupils and makes them want to progress quickly. There is an ethos of high expectations where all staff and pupils strive to do their best.
The school are ideally looking for someone who can commit to at least the first term and ideally the full academic year. They are happy to consider NQTs or more experienced teachers. The school is able to be flexible with exact year group (across Year 1, 2 or 3) as allocations have not yet been finalised for the next academic year. The interview process will include a 20-30 minute observation teaching either English or Maths to a Year 3 class. Shortlisting Criteria include:
- UK QTS
- An innovative approach to teaching
- A strong commitment to developing relationships and great teamwork skills
- Experience teaching in a KS1 class
If this innovative and exciting school environment sounds like the place for you then be sure to apply as soon as possible as the school are hoping to interview over the next three weeks. If you are interested please call me on 02075933075 or email me at Kelly-
