Personal Care Support- SEN Support Assistant Role

My school are looking for teaching assistants who will be flexible, adaptable and some one who is passionate and hungry to get involved supporting SEN pupils in the High Wycombe area.

The provision is designed to support learning for primary, secondary and up to 19 year old students. The highly unique Profound (Developmental) Curriculum is designed to provide education in an integrated manner incorporating learning, therapy and life skills for pupils with either Severe or Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties which are compounded by a high degree of dependency, and who require very specialised management for physical disabilities, sensory impairment and complex medical needs.

The school have an in house warm pool which is used to help with muscle exercise and sensory practice.

About the Role

  • This is a full time long term position to start immediately
  • Feeding and supporting with medical needs
  • The role is to support SEN pupils across the school and may require 1-1
  • There will be wheel chair hoisting and personal care (toileting and changing nappies)
  • There will be an element of therapy with the students with muscle management and helping the students move and exercise their muscles through various actions like, massaging and supporting in specialist walking equipment

If you have had any experience in a care work/ school setting with the following we would like to hear from you!

  • People with dementia, Parkinson disease, muscular dystrophy, ME,
  • Cerebral palsy, stroke victims, brain injury, paralysis due to injury,
  • People with cancer, bipolar, sight impaired, amputees, schizophrenia, sleep disorders, fibromyalgia, downs syndrome and personal care.

Although you will be working with children any of the above experience really helps with support students with PMLD
