Teaching Personnel are looking for an excellent Higher Level Teaching Assistant / Sports Coach to join a successful secondary school in Preston.
We are looking for a confident and caring HLTA / Sports Coach who is committed to raising the achievement of all our pupils. We are looking for a candidate with good teaching skills, excellent behaviour management skills and a great team player. You will need to be flexible and be able to teach in all classes across the school as needed.
About the role
Plan and prepare PE lessons/ sessions and activities, participating in all stages of the planning cycle, including in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons/work plans. Plan sporting events and activities for the school.
Working under the direction and within an agreed system of supervision from a qualified teacher. To complement the teachers’ delivery of the national curriculum and contribute to the development of other support staff, pupils and school policies and strategies.
To undertake specified timetabled teaching duties as agreed with the Headteacher. To work collaboratively with the teaching staff and assist teachers in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources. Also to supervise whole classes occasionally during the short-term absence of teachers, including PPA.
To provide support for pupils, the teacher and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all pupils, by utilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes, and to encourage pupils to become independent learners, to provide support for their welfare and to support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life.
You will be joining the school on a temporary basis from September 2020 and will be working Monday, Wednesday and Thursday initially. You will then go on to a full time contract from December 2020.
Who we are looking for
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills or qualifications equivalent to NVQ level 2 in English and maths.
- Have Higher Level Teaching Assistant Status/ a Sport Coaching qualification or equivalent qualification or extensive experience teaching different year groups.
- The ability to provide support for all pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
- Promote good behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with the agreed school policies.
- The ability to undertake pupil record keeping as requested.
- The ability to plan and deliver structured teaching and learning activities
