Teacher of English - Farnborough
This secondary school seeks to appoint a talented and dynamic Teacher of English to work within their hugely successful English Department. They have an excellent school ethos with a strong leadership team. The Teacher of English position is available from January 2020 on a long term contracted basis in the first instance. The ability to teach across all key stages 3 and 4 will be an advantage. Students follow the AQA syllabus at GCSE and at A level. The English department achieves outstanding results at Key Stage 3 and GCSE and all classes are taught in mixed ability groups from Year 7 onwards.
This position is a part time role working 3 days a week on a temporary basis in the first instance, with a permanent position potentially being available for outstanding candidates! This position will be paid to scale, and is suitable for all experienced or qualified teachers to apply for.
The school prides itself in the following:
- An outstandingly successful and oversubscribed 11-16 mixed comprehensive school with 1725 students on roll.
- A Specialist Science and PE College and holds International School Award status.
- Continuously achieving outstanding results at GCSE and in 2018. The Progress 8 score was significantly above the national average and places the school in the top 20% of schools nationally. The percentage of students at 5+ in English and Mathematics is 64% and well above the national figure of 39.9%. 89% of our students attained the standard pass in both English and Mathematics and over 100 grade 9s were awarded across the subject areas.
- Judged as outstanding in both the December 2014 section 48 inspection and then again, for the fifth time in succession, as outstanding by OFSTED in March 2015.
This post would be suitable for experienced teachers who feel they can make a significant and positive contribution to the English department and the school as a whole, as well as newly qualified teacher and you will be paid to scale in accordance with your level of experience.
All NQT teachers who are successfully appointed will be provided with full support of the SLT and a mentor to guide them both through the English curriculum and with pedagogy.
