Nurture Practitioner

Nurture Practitioner required for specialist setting in Leeds, commencing as soon as possible.

A large SEN school in Leeds are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated member of staff to join a dedicated team. The school caters for pupils aged 3-19 with a wide range of Special Educational Needs.

This is an exciting time to join the school as they have made great progress over the last academic year, having recently undergone an Ofsted inspection and achieving a ‘GOOD’ status (January 2020), with some outstanding features.

The school are seeking a Nurture Practitioner who can make a difference, building high quality relationships with children, parents, staff and other stakeholders.

The school are currently developing a Nurture Provision to support pupils who find school and learning difficult. This expected to be running at a high capacity in September, with many pupils returning from a long time without accessing formal education. You will be expected to work with colleagues to develop a programme that provides children with a high quality Nurture provision, ensuring children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs can build positive attachments which allow them to access their learning.

As a Nurture Practitioner, responsibilities will include:

• Working closely with class teachers and other key professionals to plan, deliver and evaluate intervention programmes for pupils across school
• Fostering positive relationships with children, families and staff
• Remaining calm and responding sensitively to individual needs

• Working proactively to meet pupil's individual needs
• Support the social, emotional and wellbeing of pupils
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of children with special needs within the classroom ensuring access to lessons and their content through appropriate clarification, explanation and resources

In addition to supporting pupils through targeted intervention, you may also be called upon to support individual pupils within class, supporting transition or providing assistance to access learning activities. You will work under the instruction of class teachers and be flexible to work across school, with pupils of all ages and abilities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
