Experienced SEN Support Assistant Required for Specialist School in Bradford

  • Experience and/or training in alternative communication methods such as PECS/Makaton/BSL
  • Knowledge and understanding of Early Years Curriculum
  • Experience of creating and utilising Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) in school based settings

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a Specialist SEN School in Bradford, looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join their existing staff.

The school caters for pupils aged 5-18 with a range of Special Educational Needs (including Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities and Global Developmental Delay). You will be required to work across the school, supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs. You will be working closely with staff to create bespoke learning plans for pupils requiring additional support to access learning activities.

You will have strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of teaching staff, social workers, speech and language therapists and educational psychologists. You will be organised, patient and confident, with a sound understanding of meeting the social, emotional and mental health needs of young people with Special Educational Needs.

Experience or training in the following is also desirable:

• Picture Exchange Communication (PECS)

• Makaton or BSL (to any level)

• Autism Awareness/ASC Training

• Team Teach

• Moving and Handling

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
