Maths Teaching Assistant

Our partner school located in Derby are currently looking to recruit a Maths Teaching Assistant to start with them from September 2018.

This full time Maths Teaching Assistant position will involve supporting the learning of both KS3 and GCSE pupils within their Maths studies.

The role:

Due to the strategic focus of the Senior Leadership team to raise the standards of Maths teaching within the school, they are looking to add a Maths teaching assistant to join them in the new school year. This position will initially be on a temporary basis, however, there is the potential of a fixed-term the following year.

Working under the direction of the Head of Maths and Head of Year 7, the incoming Maths teaching assistant will specifically focus on supporting identified pupils in in Years 7 and Y10/11 to 'bridge' any achievement gaps. This will include providing interventions with small groups to ensure the transition from Primary to Secondary education and assisting preparing GCSE pupils for examinations. The Senior Leadership team are specifically looking for a Maths teaching assistant with excellent support knowledge of Maths (ideally holds a degree in Maths or previous tuition experience) .

The school is smaller than the average size within the local area with just over 800 pupils on roll. The large percentage of pupils who attend the school are from White British backgrounds. At present, the school have a higher than average proportion of pupils who require the pupil premium funding.
