TA to work in 'Outstanding' Scunthorpe School

Teaching Personnel are currently in the process of recruiting a Makaton trained TA to work in Scunthorpe at an 'outstanding' school. The school caters to a range of SEN pupils and would be an excellent opportunity for any candidate keen to try and learn as much as possible about the variety of roles on offer to TAs in the area.

About the role:

The role will involve working with a range of SEN children ranging from ASC all the way through to PMLD. There may be instances of challenging behaviour within the classroom, but the unit is not a PRU and all the pupils are well accommodated with a hydro-therapy pool and animals on site for animal therapy.

About you as the ideal candidate

  • The best candidates will be able to demonstrate previous experience working within an SEN school, preferably working with ASC, SLD and PMLD students.
  • You should also have had experience within a classroom setting preferably, as this would be more suitable that 1:1.
  • You might also have experience working with SEN pupils outside a traditional educational setting and this could be of interest.
  • Essentially, you must be a patient, caring and thorough individual with a commitment to helping students to achieve their independence within and outside of school.
  • You will be committed to the welfare of children and always act to safeguard pupil at all times.
  • Ideally you will now have your own transport and a clean driving licence, but this is not necessary essential.

To be considered you must have:

  • A valid enhanced DBS check or be willing to have one through Teaching Personnel.
  • You will be able to provide 2 references and a 6 year working history.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
