This vacancy has now expired.

Job description

Do you have experience working in KS1 or possibly with children working at Y1-2 age related levels?

Are you looking to secure a long term position, one that may turn into a Permanent role?

Is delivering Phonics and targeted Reading Intervention something you could excel at?

A Primary School in Darwen have reached out to Teaching Personnel in need of a Level 2 Support Assistant to work within a Year 1 and Year 2 class on a full time basis working Monday to Friday. In the mornings you are required to work with small groups of children in Year 1, delivering Phonics based interventions working with children who aren't reaching their age related expectations in early reading. The school has requested that the practitioner must have had Phonics training in order to raise the children's attainment successfully. This is preferably in Jolly Phonics, Letters and Sounds or Read Write Inc. During the afternoon sessions, the role is to be a general class Teaching Assistant supporting the Class Teacher in Year 2, because of this the Head Teacher would prefer a candidate with a good understanding of the National Curriculum, particularly in UKS1

This Church of England Primary School has a mixed catchment and has a range of children arriving from socially deprived backgrounds. The Head Teacher said she is keen to continue to raise attainment throughout the School and is looking to employ a dedicated and hardworking staff member with a great work ethic. She has also stated the pupil's behaviour is 'Generally very good' but 'Like any school has its challenging days which we tackle head first'. The successful practitioner must have good behaviour management and have a secure knowledge of current Behaviour Policies.

The salary is based on a 6.5 hour position, Monday to Friday, and depending on experience, this could vary between £8.40-£10.50 per hour.
