Teaching Assistant (SEN)

Slough

Full Time

Start Date: September

 

A school in Slough are looking to take on several new Teaching Assistants to support the arrival of new pupils in the new academic year. They are expecting 15 new arrival in the early years and primary department. Each child will come with there educational health care plan (EHCP) and require a member of support staff to help settle them in and kick start their intervention plans.

This is a very exciting opportunity to join a well-established school and develop your skills working with children and young people. You will learn from highly trained and experienced staff who will be on hand to help you learn and become the best teaching assistant you can be.

Who they are looking for:

The roles will suit those who have experience with Special Educational. This can come from a professional or personal background. The school welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds with transferable skills: support worker, care assistant, teaching assistant (mainstream or SEN), youth worker, mentor or tutor to young people, or family member with SEN.

The school are also eager to take on graduates looking to get into teaching. This opportunity will provide graduates with hands on school experience that they can take forward when applying for teacher training courses. This can be a good stopping gap for graduates to take a year out and develop their skills before going on to train as a teacher.

Job Description

  • Working one to one or with small groups of pupils supporting them in key areas of development
  • Offering emotional support to pupils
  • Working with one of the following needs: autism, ADHD, social emotional mental health needs
  • Recording pupils progress and liaising with the class teacher and other SEN professionals
  • Assisting the class teacher by producing resources and setting up the classroom
  • Responsible for the safeguarding and wellbeing of the pupils
  • Assisting social activities with peers, school trips and school productions
  • Playground supervision at break times

The school offers regular training to all new staff to keep them up to speed. Courses can include, Team Teach, Safeguarding, First Aid, Moving and Manual Handling and Prevent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
