Are you a classroom assistant looking for more experience with a passion for supporting vulnerable and less advantaged students?

This Manchester secondary academy is looking to appoint a Learning Support assistant to work alongside and assist regular classroom teachers in supporting the schools most vulnerable students, such as SEN students and students with SEMH needs. The role is full time and temporary for the summer term, commencing after Easter. There is however the opportunity for the right candidate to make this position permanent in the new academic year.

The school the successful candidate would be joining is a central Manchester academy secondary school with values of excellence and leadership who aspire to be the first-choice secondary school for students I the area. The new Learning Support Assistant will help the school achieve this by bolstering their support department and allowing them to reach and support more vulnerable students to the highest standard possible. The role will involve working alongside regular classroom teachers during lessons to allow them to deliver lessons smoothly whilst making sure no students fall behind. This may involve explaining things to vulnerable students in a way they understand or assisting them with their set tasks. LSA’s will also work alongside SEN coordinators to provide vulnerable students with one-on-one and small group intervention and pastoral support, providing programmes of work to be completed outside of class and promoting inclusion and self-esteem amongst vulnerable students.

We encourage applications form candidates with the following experience:

• Supporting students Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the classroom or otherwise
• Supporting students with Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) requirements 
• Supporting students with other special requirements that may be considered vulnerable e.g. English as an Additional Language (EAL) requirements
• Supporting students in a classroom scenario in other capacities e.g. teaching assistant, behaviour support assistant
• Passion for education and supporting vulnerable students

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
