Learning Support Assistant

A school in Warrington is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join the support staff on a temporary basis. This position is a great opportunity for an individual who is looking to gain invaluable secondary school experience. Additionally, this role would also suit someone who has prior secondary school experience, and is potentially considering enrolling onto a PGCE/relevant course.  The role will focus on offering support and guidance to:

• The school itself.
• SEN team.
• Teaching staff.
• Specific students, based on individual needs.

The role of an LSA is to ensure that adequate support is given within the classroom, as well as across the school site. AS an LSA, the focus will be working with an individual with SEN or group of individuals who require additional help when completing tasks. Examples of the support required are as follows:

• Maintaining the SEN/Learning Support department’s system of recording and monitoring academic progress.
• Providing regular feedback to teachers and support staff, with regards to the progress of a specific individual.
• To offer differentiated learning material to enable a student to best understand a task, as well as offering homework resources which reinforce the learning process.
• To work in partnership with the SEN team, to highlight where areas of improvement can be made.
• To immediate report any issues or incidents to the SEN team, and be able to effectively offer interventions in order to counter these problems.

The school is located in Warrington, which is between Manchester and Liverpool. Given that this is the case, transport links are plentiful from either of these cities. The M6 motorway is close by, and there are also numerous public transport links also within close proximity to the school itself.
