Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School (Bournemouth)

Are you a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant looking to make a difference in the lives of young people? Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for full-time LSAs to support students in one of our partner secondary schools in the Bournemouth area, starting this September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about education and student wellbeing, particularly in supporting those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or additional learning challenges.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to students within the classroom, small groups, or on a 1:1 basis.

  • Assist teaching staff with lesson preparation and classroom engagement.

  • Encourage students to develop independence and self-confidence in their learning.

  • Implement personalised strategies for pupils with SEN and ensure their needs are met effectively.

  • Support positive behaviour and help manage challenges calmly and professionally.

  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally those with SEN or additional learning needs.

  • Knowledge: Understanding of SEN/SEMH strategies and how to apply them effectively.

  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient, calm approach.

  • Commitment: A reliable and proactive team player with a genuine passion for helping students succeed.

  • Safeguarding: A solid understanding of child safeguarding practices and school policies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
