Learning Mentor - North Manchester

Do you have experience of working with young people? Do you want to support students who may be struggling with their studies?

Our client school are seeking to employ a full time Learning Mentor starting from Easter 2019, until at least the end of the academic year. This exciting opportunity has become available due to a restructuring in the support staff, and our Ofsted graded 'Good' school are looking for a caring, motivated and inspirational individual to fill this gap.

  • Full time post starting Easter 2019 (potential for an earlier start for the perfect candidate)
  • Opportunity to continue at the end of the academic year
  • Earn between £270-£325 per week

Teaching Personnel are working closely with our client school that is located in the Bury area of North Manchester, and is just a short drive from the M60 Outer Ring Road. In their latest Ofsted inspection in 2017, they were graded 'Good' with inspectors highlighting the strong progress that students make throughout the curriculum.

"We require a non-teaching Learning Mentor to help deliver mentoring programmes to pupils in their assigned year group. These programmes are available to support a variety of pupil needs. They are also there to offer encouragement and support. They will be expected to keep in regular contact with parents when required and monitor students closely to tailor their support towards their specific needs." Headteacher.

As a Learning Mentor, the ideal applicant will have experience of working and supporting young people. At our client school, the successful applicant will be responsible for supporting a number of students who are struggling with their studies through a range of different SEND issues including behaviour, emotional or social problems. The role will include identifying and targeting students to mentor throughout the academic year who may be under performing, and offering them support both in and out of the classroom. A Learning Mentor's support should increase student self-esteem and confidence, and ultimately help students to perform to their full potential. Prospective candidates looking to be a Learning Mentor will be working closely with a number of Heads of Year, so the ability to communicate well and work part of a time is essential.

Experience of working with young people within an education setting is desirable but not essential, and our client school is keen on recent graduates applying who may be keen to gain experience within a school and are looking to start a career in education.

If you would like to apply for this post as a Learning Mentor, please apply via the link below or send an updated CV to Chris Beckenham at Manchester North Secondary directly, alternatively call on the number provided for further information.
