Learning Mentor

Job description

Are you wishing to seek employment in a Learning Mentor capacity? Have you previously worked with vulnerable young people aged 11-16?

Due to a departmental restructure, our partner Secondary school wish to appoint a Learning Mentor to work within their Inclusion Unit on a full time basis with immediate effect. This is initially a temporary full time position, with the opportunity to gain a permanent contract after a trial period.

Role and responsibilities

  • Supporting learners with additional learning needs across Key Stage Three and Key Stage Four
  • Delivering mentoring sessions on a 1:1 basis, weekly meetings with individuals
  • Liaising with SLT and outside agencies to ensure pupils receive the most effective support
  • Planning activities for identified groups of pupils in the Inclusion Unit
  • Tracking progress and filing reports on school SIMS system

The 11-16 mixed comprehensive Secondary school is located near to the Eccles region of Salford, and has recently been refurbished to incorporate additional 'Learning spaces' and 'Time Out rooms' for pupils that have mentoring sessions within the school day. There is currently a team of four Learning Mentors at school, with a large support network to provide advice and tools to promote a positive learning environment.
