KS2 Teacher - Southwark

Date posted : 21/06/19
£140 - £180 per day

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Teaching Personnel is excited to present an opportunity for a Key Stage 2 Teacher in their Early Career to join a wonderfully supportive one-form entry primary school in Peckham for a full-time role. The school is a charming Church of England Primary School located just a five minute walk from Peckham Rye Station (Overground, Southern, Southeastern, Thameslink). Their most recent Ofsted inspection confirmed the school continues to be Good (May 2017)

The school has a mission to create a calm but exciting place to be where children feel safe and special. This is embodied in the school motto 'be the best I can be' where both children and staff are encouraged to be confident enough to make choices and be proud of what they do. They seek to nurture every member of the school community to develop their skills and abilities in a positive and ordered learning environment.

As a CofE School they wish for children to grow in the Christian faith but they also encourage an understanding of and a respect for other faiths. Their approach to relationships is based on Jesus' command to forgive and love our fellows. Their approach to achievement and the provision of opportunities for development is based on Jesus' statement that he came to offer 'life in all its fullness'. They firmly believe that a child's education must include the widest range of opportunities whether artistic, sporting, cultural, recreational or social.

Teachers across the school have very good relationships with pupils and there is a welcoming positive learning environment. The school has a culture where pupils are encouraged to seek support and guidance, allowing them to feel comfortable sharing both successes and struggles.

The leadership team are quick to induct and train new members of staff, creating a strong team spirit and high staff morale. There is a real culture of collaboration with teachers and teaching assistants working closely together to share skills and knowledge as well as providing support. Leaders are given sufficient guidance to ensure their roles can be performed to a high standard and school leaders have invested substantially in a planned programme of professional development for all staff.

If this sounds like the right place for you to take the next steps in your teaching career, the school are hoping to interview as soon as possible. Shortlisting criteria include:

  • UK QTS
  • At least a year of teaching experience in KS2
  • A friendly personality
  • A positive approach to teamwork (essential for this one-form entry environment)
