Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work in Key Stage 2. The role will be based within a classroom of 30 pupils and additional Teaching Assistant’s. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful school and play a significant role in developing the learning of the pupils.

Role: Teaching Assistant
Pay: GBP61.20 - GBP66.30 per day (dependent on hours worked)
Location: Caerphilly
Hours: 08:30-15:30
Duration: Full Time (Monday – Friday)
Start Date: 01.06.2021
End Date: TBC

About the school

The school is based within the county of Caerphilly with over 200 pupils from age 3 to 11, including 25 pupils who attend the nursery on a part-time basis. The school primarily consists of pupils with English as the main language, however very few pupils speak English as an additional language. The school approximately has 38% of pupils who are entitled to free school meals which is above the average in Wales. The school has identified 20% identified as Additional Learning Needs but no pupils have statements.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supporting the children across the curriculum in particular Literacy and Numeracy
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to their individual needs.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in all activities led by the class teacher.
  • Deliver tailored learning activities prepared by the class teacher.
  • Build team commitment with the pupils and staff.
  • Ensure you uphold all safeguarding procedures and policies.

The Ideal Candidate will be someone who is;

  • Positive, patient and energetic
  • Takes the hands-on approach and is always ready to support the class teacher.
  • Has the ability to use their own initiative in challenging situations that may arise.
  • Experience in working with children but does not necessarily have to be classroom based.
  • Have a passion for engaging students and watching them develop into lifelong learners, always going the extra mile to create a fun and positive learning environment.

Person Specification (Essential)

  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Hold a DBS which is registered on the update service, however full assistance provided if not registered.
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (compulsory requirement in Wales) – Full assistance provided if not registered.
  • Provide at least two professional references.
