- The opportunity to help students with additional educational needs get back in to mainstream education
Teaching Personnel are currently looking for a fully qualified ICT teacher to work full time at a secondary pupil referral unit in Reading for a September start. The unit specifically caters for KS3 & KS4 students who have been excluded or were at risk of exclusion from mainstream school. All students have social, emotional and mental health difficulties but may also have other additional needs such as Autism, ADHD or Moderate Learning Difficulties.
Your main role will be teaching the students and also leading the ICT curriculum, assisting them with engaging in the curriculum and making progress towards more positive futures. The needs and abilities of the students will be varied and so you must be willing to adapt lessons and activities to allow for this. Active and engaging lessons will be key to being successful in this role and previous experience in a similar setting would be most beneficial for this role, however the school are willing to consider any applicants without experience teaching in PRU or those who have only taught at primary level. Someone with a positive, proactive and confident personality is essential for this role, as well as someone who is not fazed by a fast paced environment that can be challenging and can be subject to change.
If you would like to apply for this role, or find out more information, please contact Zoe Smith.
