Teacher of History for September 2017

  • Secondary Catholic School 11-18
  • Full time, permanent role
  • Suitable for an NQT or more experienced teacher

The school is a Catholic Academy taking in boys and girls from 11-18, which has been established by the Diocese of Portsmouth for the education of Catholic children who live within the designated parish catchment area allocated to the school. In addition, they also take in a number of children from other Christian denominations whose parents have specifically requested a catholic education at the School. The school has over 1,400 students on roll, including a Sixth Form College. It is a well-established comprehensive school, which is well supported by parents and highly respected in the community.

The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed teacher to join our hardworking, highly experienced and supportive History Department.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher who can demonstrate exceptional classroom practice that reflects contemporary and traditional thinking in the teaching and learning of History. The ability to teach Geography would be an advantage but is not essential.

In addition to the delivery of History, the successful candidate must have relevant and up to date knowledge in relation to working with and protecting children and young people.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
