Due to an ongoing partnership with a large mixed comprehensive Secondary school towards the East of Oldham town centre, Teaching Personnel are currently seeking to appoint a team of Graduate Teaching Assistants to work on a full time and part time basis from September 2018.

This temporary position will initially be offered for the full academic year 2018/2019, and may be subject to continuation following the initial successes.

If you are aspiring to complete a teacher training course in the future and wish to gain invaluable school based experience prior to this, this position may be perfect for you.

  • Full time and part time Graduates required, September 2018 start.
  • Graduates of all specialisms welcome to apply, a background in English, Mathematics or Science is desirable.
  • Earn up to £1200 per month and gain invaluable experience prior to completing a teacher training programme.
  • Access a range of CPD courses throughout the Graduate Teaching Assistant position.
  • Located towards the East of Oldham town centre, accessible via the A670.

*Previous experience working within a school setting is not essential, however the successful Graduate Teaching Assistant must have previous experience working with children and young people in any capacity.*

The SEN Co-Ordinator at school wishes to appoint a team of Graduate Teaching Assistants to work with pupils across Key Stage Three and Key Stage Four in small groups and on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day, supporting with engagement and motivation.

Other responsibilities include;

  • Assisting teachers and the Senior Leadership team to promote positive well-being throughout school.
  • Working with pupils to engage and motivate during lessons and within the Inclusion room.
  • Specifically providing targeted support within subject specialism.
  • Monitoring and recording progress whilst promoting positive behaviour management.
  • Opportunities to cover lessons with pre-set work in the absence of the class teacher.

With already over 1,300 pupils on roll, the school plan to expand and rebuild in the future to ensure all pupils who require additional support have extra facilities in school. Graduates will be fully supported throughout their position at school and will have the opportunity to access further training through their CPD Academy. Located on the outskirts of the East of Oldham, our partner Secondary school is accessible via the A670 road. There are a number of routes to the school from neighbouring areas Mossley, Rochdale and North Manchester, along with a local train station to facilitate transportation routes for those who do not drive.
