Graduate Teaching Assistant

Graduate Teaching Assistant required for a client secondary school of Teaching Personnel starting in September 2019.

Our client secondary school wish to appoint a Graduate and aspiring teacher who is able to provide support to staff and students within their school.

  • Graduate Teaching Assistant
  • Full-time position starting in September 2019
  • Working within a supportive Roman Catholic High School - Wigan
  • Competitive pay rates with earning potential of up to £1200 a month
  • Opportunity to gain key experience in a secondary school setting ahead of a future teacher training course.

Our client secondary school that is based in Wigan now wish to appoint a Graduate who is able to provide classroom cover across the full subject range, supporting students in core subjects with tuition/intervention and providing lesson cover in the absence of the main classroom teacher.

This Graduate Teaching Assistant role is a rare opportunity for a Graduate to become a key member of staff within the schools teaching faculty. It is a chance for someone to develop excellent classroom management skills and gain a clear understanding on what 'Outstanding' involves ahead of completing a teacher training course in September 2019.

Responsibilities will include;

  • Providing classroom cover in the absence of the class teacher
  • Working closely with teaching staff to support students during the lesson
  • Providing tuition, intervention and small group catch up sessions

The school we are working in partnership with is Catholic voluntary aided, 11-16, mixed comprehensive secondary school that falls under the trusteeship of the Archdiocese of Liverpool and is situated within the Wigan LEA. The school is larger than average and currently has around 1200 students on roll.

The school is a short drive from the East Lancashire road, which ensures that it is easily accessible from the surrounding areas of St Helens, Warrington and Bolton. There are also direct public transport links from Wigan town centre.
