If yes, then our Future Teachers Programme could be the opportunity you!

What is the Future Teachers Programme?

The Future Teachers Programme is a scheme across England & Wales, designed to help address the current shortages of teachers, by attracting and supporting graduates who are considering a career in teaching, but wish to gain paid school based experience prior to starting a teacher training course.

How does it work?

You will begin your journey to teaching as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, on a full time basis, working at one of our client secondary schools across Sunderland and South Tyneside for up to a year, starting in September 2019. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will engage in a range of tasks to get a full feel of what it would be like to be a teacher, from supporting pupils with their studies in small groups and 1:1, to assisting class teachers across all departments including your specialism and getting involved with planning/delivering your own lessons!

Upon successful completion of your 1 years experience as a graduate teaching assistant, you will begin a school based teacher training programme from September 2020 within a lead training school.

Am I eligible to apply for the Future Teacher Programme?

Applicants interested in apply to our Future Teachers Programme are required to be educated to degree level or need to have a degree by summer 2019. We welcome applications from graduates across all subject areas including; English, Maths, Humanities, MFL, Art and PE.

To be successful in gaining a position on our Future Teachers Programme, you must have a genuine desire for becoming a secondary teacher and must also be able to commit to the programme on a full time basis (Monday - Friday 8.15am - 3.00pm) from September 2019 until July 2020.
