Future Teacher Graduate Training Programme (Northamptonshire)
Location: Northamptonshire (Partner secondary schools)
Start Date: September 2025 - flexible start
Contract: Full Academic Year (Fixed-Term)
Are you passionate about teaching and looking for a structured, rewarding route into the profession? Our Future Teachers Programme is designed for recent graduates who are eager to gain invaluable classroom experience and take the first step toward becoming a qualified teacher. The programme is open to graduates in English, Maths, Science, Art, Business, Humanities, Modern Foreign Languages, or Psychology.
This is a paid, full-time position where you will gain hands-on experience as a Teaching Assistant or Cover Supervisor, while receiving guidance and mentorship to prepare you for your next steps in teacher training.
Programme Overview:
- Classroom Experience: As a Teaching Assistant or Cover Supervisor, you will support teachers in the delivery of lessons, provide 1:1 and small group support, and ensure the students stay on task.
- Training & CPD: You’ll receive tailored training in key teaching strategies, classroom management, and lesson delivery, as well as workshops on educational theory, safeguarding, and special educational needs.
- Support and Mentorship: Throughout the year, you will be paired with a mentor who is an experienced teacher. They will guide you through your professional development, helping you to build teaching skills and confidence in the classroom.
- Opportunities for Progression: If you excel during the programme, there will be the opportunity to apply for a place on a teacher training programme (such as a PGCE or SCITT) through one of our partner schools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting Learning: Work closely with students to reinforce lesson content, provide additional explanations, and offer academic support to individuals or small groups.
- Classroom Management: Help maintain a positive learning environment by supporting teachers with behaviour management and ensuring students are on task.
- Engagement: Actively engage with students, promoting a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
- Personal Development: Take ownership of your own learning journey by participating in CPD opportunities, mentoring sessions, and feedback discussions.
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualifications: A degree (or due to graduate in 2025) in English, Maths, Science, Psychology, or a related subject.
- GCSE Maths and English
- Sufficient right to work
- Interest in Teaching: A passion for education, with a clear desire to become a qualified teacher.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work effectively with young people.
- Personality: An enthusiastic, hardworking, and adaptable individual who thrives in a dynamic classroom environment.
- Experience: While experience working with young people is desirable, we welcome applications from recent graduates looking to start their teaching journey.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
