Exciting Opportunity for a Geography Teacher in Levenshulme!

Are you a passionate and dedicated Geography Teacher looking for a new opportunity? Teaching Personnel is thrilled to present a full-time position for a Geography Teacher at an Ofsted Good secondary school in Levenshulme. This role is available to start in September for the full academic year, with the potential for permanency based on performance. The salary for this role is £30,000 to £46,525 per annum, in line with PayScale.

Role Overview:

As a Geography Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and educate students about the fascinating world of geography, including physical landscapes, human societies, and environmental issues. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing Geography lessons in accordance with the national curriculum, ensuring that all students develop a deep understanding of geographical concepts and skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging Geography lessons covering a wide range of topics, including physical geography, human geography, and environmental sustainability, fostering students' curiosity and understanding of the world around them.

  • Fieldwork and Investigation: Organise and lead geographical fieldwork activities and investigations, providing students with hands-on experience and opportunities to develop geographical inquiry skills.

  • Data Analysis: Teach students how to collect, analyse, and interpret geographical data using maps, charts, graphs, and GIS (Geographical Information Systems), promoting their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Global Perspectives: Explore global issues and challenges, such as climate change, migration, and urbanisation, within a geographical context, encouraging students to consider the interconnectedness of the world and their role as global citizens.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their learning and development.

  • Behaviour Management: Establish a positive and inclusive learning environment by implementing effective behaviour management strategies that promote respect, engagement, and participation.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Geography department and across the school to share best practices, resources, and ideas for enhancing teaching and learning.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Geography or related field.

  • Strong subject knowledge across various geographical topics and concepts, including physical and human geography, environmental sustainability, and geographical skills.

  • Previous experience teaching Geography at the secondary level, preferably within a UK school setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.

  • Commitment to fostering geographical literacy, critical thinking, and a sense of environmental stewardship among students.
