Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently working on behalf of an SEND school in Catterick, who are looking to recruit a general SEND support assistant for early year's students. The role will start with immediate effect on a full time basis and will be on going for the foreseeable future. You will have the opportunity to work alongside other specialist teaching assistants and an experienced special needs teacher.

An enthusiastic and proactive teaching assistant is required to assist pupils in their day to day learning and routines. The successful candidate will be required to deliver personal care to these children. You will have a desire for working with children and be looking to make a real difference. You must be a strong role model, motivated and dedicated to providing outstanding teaching support. Ideally you will have experience of working within an educational setting supporting students with PMLD, SLD, MLD and ASC.

The ideal support teaching assistant will -

  • Have experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age
  • Have numeracy/literacy skills
  • Have an understanding of the role of the Teaching Assistant and other professionals working in the classroom
  • Have an understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies
