ESOL TUTOR

ESOL Teachers needed to deliver 1:1 intervention to Asylum Seekers and pupils with English as an Additional or Second Language!

Teaching Personnel work extensively with Local Authority teams across the UK, providing specialist tuition and intervention packages for Looked After Children who do not currently have a school place.

We are specifically recruiting tutors in the Nottingham/Nottinghamshire areas to work with Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers who may have recently arrived in the UK and have no UK based education.

Tutors are required to deliver high impact English intervention to help these young people develop their English Language skills in preparation for entering school, college or undertaking employment oportunities.

Expectations of the role:

• Working with vulnerable young people who may have no or limited English Language Skills
• Working with asylum seekers who may have experienced significant childhood trauma, violence and may be from war torn countries
• Planning and delivering high impact English/ESOL intervention and providing weekly feedback on student progress and development
• Managing student wellbeing - anxiety, mental health and emotional 
• Beng responsible for managing any safeguarding issues in line with safeguarding and lone working policies
• Building positive relarionships with students and their foster carers/residential home staff
• Being committed and dedicated to supporting vulnerable children on an ongoing basis

Desirable experience and qualifications:

• QTS or QTLS Status
• Level 5 DTLLS Teaching Qualification
• CELTA qualification
• Experience with EAL/ESOL pupils
• International experience with children and adults with English as a Second language
• Experience teaching ESOL in adult learning centres
• Preparing students for IELTS exams
• Any relevant experience with asylum seekers or refugees

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
