We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative Teacher of English to join one of our local schools. Located in Christchurch close to the coast, and commutable by road and rail. The school is a vibrant, dynamic community of Staff and Students who work collaboratively towards exceptional educational outcomes. 

The school is a Pupil Referral Unit which provides education for those pupils who have been permanently excluded from mainstream school. The school also offers a provision for those pupils with medical/mental health needs which prevent them from accessing their mainstream place. It is a very small school which is currently able to offer 40 pupil places.  This comprises of up to 20 places at the main site and up to 20 places at the medical site.

To apply, you must have Qualified Teacher Status in the UK, or an equivalent overseas qualification with UK teaching experience. Applications from Newly Qualified Teachers are encouraged and an excellent NQT package would be available if appropriate. The post would be suitable for newly qualified teachers (NQTs) and teachers on the main pay range.

To be successful in this role it is desirable if you:

  • have experience working within a school setting 
  • have experience working with children and/or adults with learning difficulties including ADHD, SEMH and ASC.
  • have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs, or a willingness to learn
  • Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the role of a Teacher in a special needs school
  • Have the ability to engage pupils in their learning and support them in their social, emotional and personal wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
