The school based in Waterlooville is seeking to appoint an English intervention tutor on a one year fixed term contract to work with their students from September 2020.
The school is considered to be a ‘good’ school where pupils benefit from a well rounded education and pastoral care. Ofsted describes the school as a ‘harmonious’ one. In light of the school closures and the significantly reduced contact time students would have had, the head has taken the very fundamental decision to accelerate the support they already provide by increasing their academic support workforce to ensure that every child has an equal opportunity to catch up and continue to access a good education.
The successful candidate will work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, under the direction of the Science department to ensure good progress that is sought, is made. Being an English Tutor at this school will require you to have exceptional knowledge of the English curriculum so that any gaps in knowledge can be quickly identified. You would be required to plan effective sessions that help close these gaps in knowledge and understanding caused by school closures. Priority for this intervention would be for KS4; years 10 and 11.
The post would highly suit a bright graduate of English or related degree subject who is interested to pursue a career in teaching in the future. An A level in English is also desirable along with any experience of delivering intervention in any setting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
