Are you a graduate in an English related degree looking to gain secondary school experience before commencing a teacher training programme in September 2018. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers of the future to work alongside full time English teachers assisting them in the classroom through your subject knowledge supporting students.
The main aim of a literacy support assistant is to ensure students are given every opportunity to progress and reach their expected target levels throughout the academic year. Their will be opportunities to work with students that are under achieving against their Progress 8 targets through tailored intervention sessions on a small group basis and at times 1:1 basis.
Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit English graduates to work as Literacy Support Assistants for the 10 secondary school s we are partnered with throughout Tameside.
Essential criteria to be successful for the role of literacy support assistant;
- Strong subject knowledge in English literature and language
- Passion for education and working with young people
- Aspirations to become a teacher in the future
- Patient attitude and flexible personality to meet the demands of the role
Teaching Personnel have started the future teachers programme in partnership with two Secondary Schools offering a one year placement as a teaching assistant before going on to the schools own direct teacher training programme. The school based experience that you gather will stand you in a great position to get on to earn a school direct or PGCE placement for September 2019.
This is a highly rewarding position but will have it's share of challenges throughout so you will need to have a can do attitude and positive personality to make sure that the students education and development is paramount.
