Early Careers Teacher
Job description
Early Career Teachers
£130–£140 per day
Flexible work from 2-5 days per week
Just qualified and want to ease into teaching without the full-time pressure straight away? Teaching Personnel has day-to-day and longer-term ECT work across Durham secondary schools. Pick up a few days a week while you build confidence, or go full-time if that suits you better.
What the work looks like:
You'll step into classrooms when teachers are absent - lesson plans are ready, you deliver them. It's mixed subjects and year groups, so you get a feel for different schools and student dynamics. Some days will go brilliantly, others will test you. That's how you learn what kind of teacher you are.
Why flexible ECT work makes sense:
You get paid classroom experience without committing to a permanent contract immediately. You see different schools and teaching styles. You figure out what age groups and environments suit you. And if a school really clicks, longer placements or permanent roles often follow.
You'll need:
- To be an Early Career Teacher
- Good classroom presence and communication skills
- Reliability - schools remember who shows up and who doesn't
- Adaptability - every school is different
What we offer:
- £130–£160 daily depending on your experience
- Weekly PAYE pay (no umbrella companies)
- A consultant who'll get to know you and your preferences
- Free THRIVE training and other CPD
- Referral bonuses if you know other ECTs looking for work
Getting started:
We'll register you, get you cleared, and start matching you with schools based on subject, location, and what you're after. Usually takes about 2 weeks to get going.
Location: Durham and surrounding areas
Start: ASAP
Hours: 2–5 days per week
Send your CV or call 0191 223 5071 to get started.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
