A welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school in Preston, Lancashire is seeking a Design & Technology (DT) Technician to join their team on a full-time basis from April 2026. This role is initially offered on a temporary basis, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, organised, and enthusiastic individual to support the delivery of high-quality DT education across the school.

The Role

As a DT Technician, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning within the Design & Technology department. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for DT lessons
• Maintaining and organising workshops and classrooms
• Ensuring tools and machinery are safe, serviced, and fit for purpose
• Supporting practical lessons where appropriate
• Managing stock levels, ordering resources, and maintaining inventories
• Ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations at all times

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to hear from candidates who have:

• Experience working in a DT environment (school-based experience is essential)
• Practical skills and confidence using DT tools, equipment, and machinery
• A strong understanding of health & safety procedures
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A proactive and flexible approach to work

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
