Director of Internal Provision (POD)
Salary: £39,862 – £42,839 FTE | Actual Salary £34,285 – £36,846
Hours: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year
Location: Wellingborough
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary academy in Northamptonshire is seeking to appoint an exceptional Director of Internal Provision (POD) to lead and develop its expanding internal alternative provision.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled pastoral or inclusion leader who is passionate about transforming outcomes for young people through trauma-informed, restorative and highly supportive practice.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the academy’s Internal POD provision, ensuring students with behavioural, emotional, attendance and wellbeing needs receive high-quality intervention and successful reintegration into mainstream education.
The Role
The Director of Internal Provision will:
- Lead the strategic development and continuous improvement of the academy’s internal provision
- Ensure the POD operates as a calm, safe and purposeful environment with high expectations
- Oversee reintegration planning and targeted support for vulnerable students
- Line manage pastoral and support staff within the provision
- Work collaboratively with attendance, safeguarding, SEND and behaviour teams
- Build strong partnerships with families and external agencies
- Use data effectively to evaluate impact and drive improvement
- Champion a culture of reflection, restoration and inclusion
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Significant experience in pastoral leadership, inclusion or alternative provision
- A strong understanding of behaviour, attendance and SEMH needs
- Experience supporting students with behavioural and emotional challenges
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and professional judgement
- The ability to lead, coach and develop staff effectively
- A resilient, emotionally intelligent and solution-focused approach
Experience working with trauma-informed practice, reintegration pathways, SEND and multi-agency collaboration would be highly advantageous.
