Full time Director of Geography required for an Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' Secondary School ahead of October 2018.

This well respected independent Secondary school based in central Bolton has been noted for its dynamic teaching and learning approach amongst all their staff. Due to a restructure within the Geography department there is a demand for an outstanding Director of Geography to lead the department as a Teacher of Geography and subject lead.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful Director of Geography will be reporting to Senior Leadership, under the dedicated guidance of the Principal and the board of Governors.

  • Full time Director of Geography, October 2018 - Bolton.
  • Must hold strong subject specific qualifications alongside evidence of previous leadership capacity.
  • Must uphold school values and ethos.

  • Pay in line with pay scale MPS/UPS + TLR. *Dependant upon evidence of relevant scale and experience*.

This smaller than average independent Secondary school with just over 500 pupils on roll has been noted for its outstanding development in all areas, by Ofsted and continues to triumph all challenges through the delivery of progressive, student centred learning.

The incoming Director of Geography will hold full teaching responsibilities alongside the responsibilities as the lead within the department of Geography. The arduous demands of this role require a confident practitioner who has developed their pedagogy in the delivery of effective teaching, learning and leadership.

The responsibilities of the role as the Director of Geography will include, but not be limited to;

  • Lead best practice in the teaching of Geography, ensuring excellence in Geography teaching and learning, evaluating the quality of teaching and standards of pupil's achievement, and setting targets for improvement.
  • Provide professional leadership to secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources, and high standards of learning and achievement for all pupils.
  • Establish and maintaining policies and practices to promote positive behaviour and achievement in Geography within the framework of the school Behaviour Policies.
  • Lead the Geography department actively supporting all staff members.

Located at the heart of Bolton, this independent, same sex Secondary School can be accessed via the M61 and the surrounding areas; Bury, Salford and Wigan. The school can also be accessed through various public transport options with links across Greater Manchester.
